Why is the ginseng in my tea making my tongue numb?

I've made some tea and put chinese ginseng in it, now my tongue goes numb everytime eye drink it? Can anyone tell me why? (eyem not drinking it anymore until eye make sure it wont harm me)|||Allergic reaction. so sorry.
